Our first in-person Creative Club!

Hola gang! Here’s a little meditative exercise that I very much like…

The last couple of years, I’ve been getting into some Buddhist practices. I wouldn’t call myself a Buddhist, but I’m Budd-ish...t. 

One that I really like is, every now and then, I’ll ground myself by reciting “Rama” in my head. 

You say it like “RAM” and then the second “A” at the end is silent, but you still kinda give it a lil’ silent oomph, if that makes sense. 

RAM-A.

Go ahead and give it a try.

It’s a really nice practice, as it reminds us that we’re all one. Ram is Sanskrit; it means The Universe. Oneness. All-ness. 

It’s a reminder that we are all connected under one universal consciousness, and it’s helpful perspective when we inevitably end up stressing about regular, everyday life bullsh*t.

RAM-A.

I also know a dude named Ram. He’s the bartender at this bar I sometimes go to. He’s a seemingly nice dude, who I’ve met maybe 10 or 15 times, never speaking much more than pleasantries and drink orders. 

I don’t know him well, but if I’m being honest, he does sometimes wander into my mind while I’m RAM-A-ing. 

And I just wonder what he’d think, knowing that when I close my eyes, and centre myself with the oneness of the universe, I see his face, nodding and smiling back at me, as I order another shot of Jameson Whiskey.
