ONE MONTH OH HELL YEAH!
My very first month of running creative events at the studio.
Hola frogs & toads, it’s been a minute!
I believe last time I checked in, I had just signed a lease and was excited to start building Dr Lemco’s Creative Club. Well, that has now happened. And I’m so stoked to report that it came together in a really cool way and I love it. I’ve hosted a handful of really awesome events so far and I think everyone’s had fun and made cool art.
We officially kicked things off on January 4th, and in 4th fashion, there were four people there. To be totally transparent with y’all, I was a little worried that my very first event in the new studio, my grand opening so to speak, was not attracting more demand. I almost typed “was just four people” but stopped myself, because it was such an awesome vibe. Holy shit. Everyone hit it off right off the bat as we painted our “2026 & beyond”. It was sort of a “manifest your future through art” workshop, but in a low-stakes, chill hangout kinda way.
But get this… the event was 24 days ago, right?
One person painted a beautiful expression of their want to get off of their computer and learn fun, new skills like baking, improv, and crochet.
She’s since been back to the creative club for our Crochet Workshop last weekend and made an adorable lil’ pickle guy. I am unsure if she’s baked anything or played any Zip Zap Zop.

Another person painted a meta masterpiece, literally pushing himself out from behind a curtain, onto a stage.
During the workshop, he talked about wanting to try stand up comedy this year. Guess what? I just got a message this afternoon that last night he went out to an open mic I recommended and did it! (And didn’t completely bomb, apparently!)
Another attendee painted a microphone laying in a bed of dollar bills, symbolizing her mission to earn a living from her passion of comedy.
I just saw her post an Instagram Story today that she might be paying their rent with money from stand up by March.
The final person just painted something cute for their girlfriend.
I don’t think he was really manifesting anything for 2026, but I’m sure he got some action for the gesture. So truly, manifestation works and everyone got what they wanted. And that was 24 days ago; is that not crazy?!?!
Ok, I won’t bore you with full details of each and every event, but real quick…
Date Night Paint Night was cuter than a floral dress on a baby. We had a FULL house for that one, which was more of a night time silly sexy sassy party vibe. The reveals were incredible.
We’re doing another one ON Valentine’s Day, so if this looks like your jam, grab a spot!
To be honest, I wasn’t sure how the Trivia Art Party was gonna go, mainly because it requires attendees to really buy-into a format and a concept, and be able to illustrate all of their answers. But I was stressed for nothin’ because this turned out to be such a fuckin blast. I should have never doubted The Quizzard.
This is actually such a fun time; I hope to do it on a monthly basis. Next one is Tuesday, February 10th. I do give bonus points for art that I like, and there are prizes (although not good ones!).
The Guy Fieri Paint Party was my first time hosting two people. I guess there are less Guy Fieri fans than I anticipated?? Either way, this turned into such a fun and wholesome hang out & creative yap sesh. We watched D, D, & D while painting tributes to the Mayor of Flavortown (on his birthday, no less!). One of the attendees and I even brainstormed a really fun event idea that we’re gonna put together. Details coming soon hehe.
Next up was the aforementioned Crochet Workshop, which I co-hosted with The Montreal Crochet Knit Club. When I say “co-hosted”, I mean I got hang out, sip tea, joke around, and learn how to crochet while Shosho (& her awesome associate Lexi) hosted the hell out of what was essentially a sold out Crochet For Beginners workshop. Everyone made their own lil’ plushie guy. Except for me. I’m still working on mine.
By the way, our next Crochet Your Own DIY Plushie event takes place Saturday, February 21st, and spots are still available!
And finally, last night was The Single Mingle Meet & Make. Do you have any idea how cool and confident you gotta be to go out (in freezing cold January!) and make art in a room full of strangers? Everyone who showed up was an absolute beauty. We “painted a red flag”, which was hilarious, we chatted about dating apps & the existence of God, and I even have a hunch that some people were catching vibes. Fingers crossed they get married, cuz that would be SO good for my marketing!
Those have been the events so far. I can honestly say that each one has exceeded my expectations. I’m having SO much fun doing this, and I think that everyone who’s come through has had an awesome time as well.
You know, after 15 years of hosting and performing in a wide array of capacities, I’ve always found it immensely draining to feel responsible for the enjoyment of a room full of people. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so grateful for my career, which, for the most part, is having fun for a living. But I’d still often complain about how tiring having fun gets when you HAVE to do it. However, that isn’t the case with these events at the Creative Club, I don’t feel drained in the slightest. They’re actually so rewarding and recharging and always leave me buzzing afterwards. I’m definitely still learning a slew everyday, especially about being an entrepreneur and running a business and how money works… but I think the previous sentences of this paragraph are enough to validate that I’m onto something and heading in a good direction. That feels real nice.
What else?
We’ve got a revamped website you can check out at www.drlem.co!
And we already have a full calendar of events lined up for February & March!

I also booked my first private party! At the risk of being all “yay!”…. yay! Want to host your own intimate creative gathering? Check it out.
If you’re still reading this, you’re my best friend and I love you. I hope you come make art, have fun, and feel good at the creative club soon!
